Winter Reflections, Spring Intentions

Hi everyone! I hope that this week has started itself out with a few giggles in the beautiful celebration of not taking ourselves too seriously (aka April Fools day) and has continued to flow in meaningful ways from there. April 1st marks not only April Fools day, it also marks the start of the second quarter of the year, or at least on calendar time. More importantly, we’re just a few weeks past the spring equinox, in which we have an equal time of day and night, completing our period of winter and moving towards the summer. It’s a time of new beginnings, as life begins to sprout up around us, and we as human gardeners get to plant new seeds. Here at the turning of the seasons, it’s an opportune time to reflect on these last 3 months and to look forward at the 3 months to come.

This winter season has been a time of new beginnings for us with Woven Web. We’ve slowly come out of a hibernation period (I know we’re about a season early) and began exploring new ways for our organization to show up in the world. We’ve begun hosting an event just about every week and I’ve begun communicating with all of you here every week as well. It’s felt like a period of becoming more consistent and establishing a core heartbeat for this organization and community here. It’s also been a time to bring coherence to our core team, as we’ve built out a solid group of leaders and organizers who have been helping create events and bring new life to what we’re doing here. We’ve begun to see some meaningful weaving throughout community at different events, new friendships formed, collaborative relationships initiated, and so much; and we’ve also gotten to experiment with different styles of events as we explore what it looks like to gather and facilitate real connection.

As we look forward to the spring, we’re excited to bring a bit more creativity and collaboration to our events. We’re going to be letting go for now of our regular cadence of one event every week, but we still expect to have 2-4 public events a month, with a tendency towards more collaborative events. For example, in April we’ll be collaborating on an event that brings together elements from our improv and inquiry events as we explore how to create the right conditions that allow novel insights and connections to emerge. We’re also participating in the creation of two events with some partner organizations, one seeking to bring folks together around a more mindful and connected approach to business, and another seeking to weave together people and organizations working on regenerative projects in Boulder.

In relation to this, we’re excited to work on building meaningful partnerships with other organizations in Boulder to help facilitate more connectedness in the areas that matter, so if you know someone that you think we should know, we’d love for your help in connecting us. We’ll be working on leveling up our website and general online presence in the spring, to help others better understand who we are and what we’re up to, but also to utilize our platforms to find ways they can be meaningfully engaged in things that matter. One way we’ll be doing that is by building out a network map, attempting to bring some organization to who’s up to what in Boulder, with the goal of facilitating meaningful collaboration and participation for our wider community. Like most of what we do, we want this to be a co-created resource, and so once again, if you know of anyone who’s applying an interesting approach or perspective to what’s happening in the world that you think is aligned with our mission here at Woven Web, we’d love to know about them.

We’re all quite excited about what these next few months will bring, and so much of that is because of the level of presence that so many people are continuing to bring to our shared community here in Boulder. We would love to know more about who you are and what you see regarding your role in all of this. Give us an email and let us know what you’re thinking or come and say hi to us a one of our events. We look forward to weaving deeper with you.

Coming Up in Community

Our friend Oliver with Friends Farm will be hosting an event at Sister Carmen Community Center in Lafayette next Monday evening (4/8) at 6pm, Geosapiens: Community and Connection to Place.

Final reminder for our mindful business meet & mingle next Friday (4/12) at 8am at Kiln Co-working in Boulder. Awesome opportunity to connect with leadership of Woven Web, Mindful Your Business, Changing Work Collective and Conscious Entrepreneurs Summit, and to discuss how a more connected culture can emerge through our work places.

Thanks for tuning in. Reply to this email and let us know what you’re thinking and how you’d like to engage with community. And forward this email to someone who you’d like to participate more in community with!

See you in the web,
